Company Profile - Tsoknyi Gechak School

In Autumn 2010 Tsoknyi Gechak Ling, a Tibetan Buddhist Nunnery in Chobhar Kathmandu, was founded by Tsoknyi Rinpoche to maintain the precious Tsoknyi lineage as practiced in Gechak Nunnery in Nangchen Tibet. As it was Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s wish to offer TGL’s young nuns a full modern education as well as traditional Buddhist training in April 2013 Tsoknyi Gechak School was founded.

Tsoknyi Gechak School is a primary and lower secondary school for the school-aged nuns at Tsoknyi Gechak Ling Monastery. Our aim is to incorporate modern teaching methods while keeping Buddhist ethics at the core. We teach the full Nepali government curriculum and enrich it with field trips, art, yoga, mindfulness and other creative activities and active learning techniques to ensure a high-quality educational experience for our pupils. For 2 years, the UNESCO award-winning Rato Bangala Foundation delivered a tailor-made teacher training program to our teaching staff, and we now deliver our own in-house training program to new staff and continue to develop, grow, and learn from each other and from international mentors and friends.
