Job Description - Program Manager

Job Purpose

To take management responsibility for Welcome To My Yard Nepal (WTMY Nepal), ensuring:

  1. delivery of a high quality, inclusive services, responsive to the needs of users and the wider
  2. community;
  3. development and maintenance of high service and professional standards including delivery of
  4. high quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention packages and programmes to street
  5. children & Young People (SCYP);
  6. effective management of resources;
  7. delivery in line with WTMY Nepal Service strategies, plans and policies;
  8. compliance with relevant legislation, as well as good practice standards set down by the
  9. Authorities and WTMY Nepal Best Practice

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. To manage WTMY Nepal office, programmes, staff and volunteers

2. To ensure delivery of weekly programmes and interventions to SCYP on a group and individual

basis within our vision, ensuring the needs of local communities are met and best practice

developed.

3. To manage the budgets and other resources of the project, ensuring compliance with financial

and administrative policies and procedures for submission to senior staff regularly.

4. To provide regular support and supervision to the project staff team including the allocation of

casework and ensuring quality standards and the use assessment tools as appropriate.

5. To ensure the team is responsive to local need, inclusive and evidence based to meet the

needs of children, young people and families.

6. To consult on casework, and directly work with SCYP referred to WTMY Nepal, ensuring best

practice in supporting resilience factors and employing the strengths-based model and

maintaining case management standards.

7. To assist in developing and maintaining an evaluation framework that evidences the value and

difference made by the project, including tracking and reviewing outcomes for children, families

and communities.

8. To ensure quality and standards in provision delivered by WTMY Nepal.

9. To contribute to strategic planning for street children and young people, parenting and family

support

10. To develop, model and review methods and approaches of promoting community cohesion,

social inclusion and addressing street community issues, through meeting the needs of street

children and families.

11. To provide weekly progress reports to WTMY NEPAL Senior Consultant and/or WTMY

Directors.

Position in Organisation

To report to the WTMY Nepal Senior Consultant, WTMY Directors and WTMY Board of Directors

To supervise staff and volunteers as directed

Work Environment

The postholder will be required to work 5 days per week and expected to work evenings and

weekends as directed within a fair flexible working week.

The postholder will be based in a community setting

The postholder will be expected to attend conferences and training courses as appropriate.

The postholder will be expected to undertake any other appropriate and reasonable activity as

required by line managers.

The postholder will be expected to work flexibly and responsively to meet the needs of the service.

The postholder is required to maintain a working knowledge of and compliance with all relevant

legislation, corporate and Directorate Policies and Procedures.

Some lone working will be required as face to face contact will be carried out in on the street and in a

variety of other settings.

Work Dimensions

The postholder is required to ensure that the service responds in an innovative way to SCYP and

community need and identified gaps in current provision. The postholder is required to ensure

consultation with stakeholders (e.g. children, young people, parents/ carers, community, agencies)

in providing and developing the service. The postholder is expected to liaise with communities and

work in partnership with other agencies in developing and delivering high quality packages to

families.

The role can be both challenging and demanding as many of the SCYP worked with are complex

and vulnerable.

The postholder must provide high quality professional supervision and support to the staff and

volunteer team for their allocated casework. The postholder must be sufficiently skilled to provide

case direction on complex and vulnerable SCYP and seek advice where appropriate. This will

include regular scheduled supervision and crisis/response decision making on a daily basis

(including some emergency response work after hours when SCYP are in crisis and supporting

staff debriefing after hours)

The postholder is responsible for safe and appropriate use of office equipment, including

computer, mobile phone, fax, photocopier, etc.

  4. Youth Service projects and provision
  5. Police
  6. Health services
